Our connection with the spaces we inhabit is so profound and influential that they become repositories of countless stories from our daily lives. The essence of my work revolves around unveiling these narratives. Initially, my focus was on studying the psychological impact of spaces by exploring abandoned locations, infused with my personal associations. This research expanded to encompass the study of human behavior and their relationship with the spaces they occupy, particularly historical sites of cultural significance. This exploration revealed people’s unconscious desire to safeguard and preserve their invaluable heritage. My research has equipped me to experiment with different mediums, creating unique perspectives and a realistic approach to portraying old abandoned spaces and objects. My recent work delves into the concept of Chaharbagh, with a particular focus on Shalimar Bagh in Lahore. I use the intricate patterns of Jalis (lattice screens) as a reference point, aiming to unearth additional stories from the selected site, all within the intricate designs of these Jalis.
